Uncisal e Ufal realizam primeira Meditação da Lua Cheia de 2024 aberta ao público em Maceió

UNCISAL and UFAL promote Full Moon Meditation event for public

The State University of Health Sciences of Alagoas (Uncisal) and the Federal University of Alagoas (Ufal) are coming together to promote a Full Moon Meditation event on Thursday, January 25th, 2024. The event is free of charge and open to the public, starting at 6pm at the Medita Maceió space, near the police station at Marco dos Corais, in Ponta Verde beach. Anyone interested can participate, and all they need to bring is a beach towel or blanket.

This month’s meditation has the theme “Mental Health While There is Time”, highlighting the January White campaign, which aims to raise awareness about mental and emotional health care. This special edition of the meditation will include a diverse program to promote physical and mental health benefits for participants and to stimulate personal growth and self-awareness.

Starting at 6 pm, there will be a session of holistic practices guided by social worker Suely Nascimento, a Ufal professor. Then, at 6:40 pm, physiotherapist Geraldo Magela, a professor at Uncisal, will lead a relaxation session with tension and trauma-releasing exercises. At 7:30 pm, DJ Lyah Luk will present a setlist of meditative music that uses vibrational frequencies to promote positive effects on the body and mind. The event will end at 8pm with a guided meditation by psychologist Jó Ferreira, a professor of Mindfulness (meditation and contemplation) at Unima.

This special edition of the Full Moon Meditation is the result of a partnership between the Quality of Life Nucleus of Uncisal and Ufal and the Medita Maceió project, with the support of the Municipal Foundation for Cultural Action. According to Jó Ferreira, the project’s creator, “Medita Maceió aims to present meditative and contemplative practices and overall quality of life”. On the day of the event, he will lead a Mindfulness practice to welcome and relax all participants.

“The practice of meditation brings several benefits to health, both from a physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional perspective,” highlights Perpétua Vilela, coordinator of the Events and Quality of Life at Work Nucleus at Uncisal. She stated that the initiative, in its second edition, aims to bring the meditation experience to as many people as possible.

For those who wish to take part in the event, it is advisable to wear light and comfortable clothing. Participants can also bring their own yoga mats, blankets, towels, or beach blankets to use on the sand. Even those who have never meditated can take part in the practice, as it is guided and easy for beginners.
